Wednesday, October 18th, 4:00 - 5:00 PM: For Kindergarten - 2nd grade, in the Meeting Room on the Lower Level

This special afterschool storytime is designed specifically for young independent readers and will combine stories, crafts, snacks and games based around a different theme each month. This month - Who's Afraid of Spiders? Face you fears and see that spiders are interesting and fun! Registration Required.



FUN WITH STEAM - Sewing Day with Renee Matsunami from Tipp City Arts Council

Saturday, October 21st, 10:00 - NOON: For grades 3rd - 5th, in the Meeting Room on the Lower Level

We're showcasing how to use sewing machines and hand-sewing to make cool pillows to take home. No experience needed - we'll provide all the supplies! Registration Required.




Tuesday, October 24th, 6:30 - 8:00 PM: For children 3 years - 5th grade and parents, in the Meeting Room on the Lower Level

Wear your costumes and have some fun at our Halloween Party! Wump Mucket Puppets will perform at 6:30 p.m., followed by trick or treating and fun stations around the library where you can make things and play games. NO TRICKS...JUST TREATS! Children must be accompanied by an adult. Registration Required.



ART SPARK - Mexican Metal Tooling

Thursday, October 26th, 4:00 - 5:30 PM: For grades 3rd - 8th, in the Meeting Room on the Lower Level

Join us each month to explore different artists and styles of art using various mediums. This month - Mexican Folk Art, called "Metal Tooling".



Creative Corner-Halloween Chalk Art Pictures

October 23rd – October 31st

For grades preschool-5. Let your creative side loose in the Creative Corner. We'll provide the materials for you to experiment and explore with.


Children's Scavenger Hunt

October 23rd – October 31st

For Preschool-5th grade. Try our Halloween Scavenger Hunt and see if you can find all the ghosts and goblins hiding in the Children's area. Prize for finding them all.

School's out in Tipp City, so stop by the Library anytime for some Lego building in the Creative Corner. Try one of our challenge cards, or do your own thing.


Critiquing Session-Holiday Short Story Contest

Friday, October 27th, 3:30pm – 5:30pm

Eligibility: The Holiday Short Story Contest is open to everyone (including home schooled and tutored children) in the Tipp City and surrounding areas, regardless of experience or previous publication, except where prohibited. Employees and agents of the Tipp City Area Arts Council and their immediate families are ineligible and may not enter. Each entrant may submit one short story of no more than 5,000 words on a holiday theme, and in any form, provided that the content of the story is not vulgar or offensive, does not employ profanity, and is the original, individual work of the entrant. The story must contain a reference to candy canes, but it does not have to be a major plot element. Each writer may also submit one illustration (does not have to be the author’s work). All submissions become the property of the Tipp City Area Arts Council and will be considered for publication. Entrants retain copyright on his/her own individual work. Submissions by multiple entrants may be mailed together in one package to save on postage. All entries sent by mail must include completed entry form. Entrants must complete the entry form its entirety to qualify for the contest and may submit no more than one short story per contest. Contest Dates: Forms available on September 24, 2017. Writing Workshop held at the Tipp Library October 6, 2017 (Grades 6-12 3:00-4:00, Grades 2-5 4:00-5:00). Critiquing Session held at the Tipp Library October 27, 2017 3:30-5:30 PM. The Holiday Short Story Contest ends November 27, 2017, at midnight. Any entries submitted after midnight of that date will not be considered. Selection: Short stories are judged based on originality, creativity, and artistic quality. Short stories not meeting the requirements for page limitation are automatically disqualified. Stories containing profanity, vulgarity or offensive material are automatically disqualified. Prizes: There will be one prize for each age group: Grades 4-6; Grades 7-8; Grades 9-12; Adults Age 18+. Prizes will be awarded on Friday, Dec. 4th at the Community Christmas Concert at the Lutheran Church. Decisions: All decisions made by the judges are final. Legalities and Fees: There are no entry fees and no purchase is necessary. Void where prohibited. Contest is sponsored by the Tipp City Area Arts Council. All rights reserved. Copyrights: The author retains all copyrights to the submitted work. Winning stories will be printed in the 2016 TCAAC Literary Publication. Notification: Winners will be notified the week prior to the presentation date. Privacy Policy: The Tipp City Area Arts Council collects personal information for the purpose of notifying contest winners. All information submitted will be kept in confidence and used solely for notification purposes and shall not be made public by the Tipp City Area Arts Council. The Tipp City Area Arts Council does not lease, lend, sell, or share personal information collected. Minor children must have parental permission to enter the contest.
