Join the Tipp City Public Library as we celebrate America250 by participating in Ohio Goes to the Movies – a statewide celebration of movies showcasing Ohio’s actors, directors, writers, composers, locations, and topics, shown in cities and towns across the state.
Tipp City Public Library will be showing the film League of their Own (1992) Outside in Collaboration with the Downtown Tipp City Partnership. League of their own: as America’s stock of athletic young men is depleted during World War II, a professional all-female baseball league springs up in the Midwest, funded by publicity-hungry candy maker Walter Harvey (Garry Marshall). Competitive sisters Dottie Hinson (Geena Davis) and Kit Keller (Lori Petty) spar with each other, scout Ernie Capadino (Jon Lovitz) and grumpy has-been coach Jimmy Dugan (Tom Hanks) on their way to fame. Madonna and Rosie O’Donnell co-star as two of the sisters’ teammates Popcorn and water will be available for patrons during the movie. Pre-movie trivia is happening before the movie with a pair of Dayton Dragons Tickets as the prize!
Ohio Connection: This film’s Actor (Tom Hanks) has strong ties to Cleveland, and Wright State University
This program is funded by a grant from the Miami County Visitors Bureau and is in collaboration with the Downtown Tipp City Partnership.
