The Girl From Greenwich Street
Lauren Willig
Based on the true story of the famous trial that brought Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr together to investigate the murder of a young woman.
At the start of a new century, a shocking murder transfixes Manhattan, forcing Hamilton and Burr to work together to save a man from the gallows.
Just before Christmas 1799, Elma Sands leaves her Quaker cousin's boarding house, and doesn't come home. Her body is found in the Manhattan Well.
Her family insists they know who killed her. Handbills circulate the city, pointing fingers at carpenter Levi Weeks.
Weeks' wealthy brother calls in a favor to Aaron Burr, whose legal practice can't handle both his expensive taste and his ambition to win the 1800 New York electons. To defend Levi Weeks is a double hefty fee plus a chance to grab headlines.
Hamilton has his own political aspirations; he isn't going to let Burr monopolize the public's attention. If Burr is defending Levi Weeks, then Hamilton will too. As the trial and the election draw near, Burr and Hamilton race against time to save a man's life-and destroy each other.

The River
Peter Heller
Wynn and Jack have been best friends since freshman orientation, bonded by their shared love of mountains, books, and fishing.
When they decide to canoe the Maskwas River in northern Canada, they anticipate long days of leisurely paddling and picking blueberries, and nights of stargazing and reading westerns. But a wildfire making its way across the forest adds unexpected urgency to the journey.
When they hear a man and woman aruging on the fog-shrouded riverbank and decide to warn them about the fire, their search for the pair turns up nothing. The next day a man appears on the river, paddling alone. Is this the man they heard? Where is the woman?
