UPCOMING ACTIVITIES

Tuesdays from 4-5 PM in the downstairs Meeting Room

Therapy dogs from Miami Valley Pet Therapy Association provide children with a calm, non-judgmental audience to practice their reading. These sweet dogs can also help calm children’s anxiety. Children in grades 1-5 can practice reading aloud to awesome dogs Branch, Rylee, Sophie, and Charlotte in a stress-free environment. Each reading slot is ten minutes long; each dog will see five readers. Children may either come with a book of their own or select one of our books from a basket. Registration is required. Call the library at 937-667-3826 to register your child. 



Saturday, February 22, from 11AM-12PM in the Meeting Room downstairs

What amazing LEGO creation can you build either by yourself or with a group of friends? We will display all of the themed creations in the children’s area for three weeks so that you can have bragging rights. Students must be in grades K-5 to participate. Registration is NOT required.

Spring Storytime Session: March 3 – April 10 

Registration opens Monday, February 24, at 10 AM 

 

Baby Cuddle Time (6-17 months)  

Mondays in the Children’s Area from 10:30-11:00 AM

Winter Session: Mondays, March 3, 10, 17, 31 and April 7

For babies and an adult (parent, grandparent, or caregiver). Cuddle close with your baby and enjoy songs, rhymes, and stories together. Learn easy activities you can do with your baby at home to develop early literacy skills. Registration is required. Limit 10 babies. 

 

Toddler Tales (18-41 months) 

Wednesdays in the Meeting Room from 9:30-10:15 or 10:30-11:15 AM 

Winter Session: Wednesdays, March 5, 12, 19 and April 2 and 9

For toddlers and an adult  (parent, grandparent, or caregiver). Now that your child is moving and active, join us for stories, singing, dancing, and easy crafts that will help your toddler develop a love of books and reading. Registration is required. Limit 15 toddlers in each session. 

 

Preschool Story Hour (3 ½ years- 5 years)

Thursdays in the Meeting Room from 10:30-11:15 AM

Winter Session: Thursdays, March 6, 13, and 20 and April 3 and 10

Get your preschoolers ready to read by immersing them in wonderful stories that will engage them and get them excited about reading. This storytime includes chances for them to sing, play, talk, and make simple crafts. An adult is encouraged to attend with the child. Registration is required.  Limit 18 preschoolers.

 

Let’s Paint: Tuesday, February 25, from 4:30-5:30 PM in the downstairs Meeting Room

Ms. Julie will guide you through the painting process as you create an adorable snail on an 8 X 8 canvas. Please wear old clothes as acrylic paints do not wash out of clothing. Registration is required and opens on February 3 at 10 AM. Limit: 10 students in grades 3-5. Register HERE.

 

Tuesday, March 11, from 4:30-5:30 PM in the downstairs Meeting Room

Just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, we will learn about items that different cultures consider lucky. We will feast on Lucky Charms and explore the lengths people and athletes will go to for good luck. There will be several “lucky” crafts to select from and make. For grades 2-5. Registration is required and opens on February 24 at 10 AM and closes at midnight on Thursday, March 6, or when registration reaches 20 students.

Tuesday, March 18, from 6:30-7:30 PM in the downstairs Meeting Room

Celebrate National Noodle Month at the library! Come have oodles of fun learning about, tasting, and playing with noodles. We’ll play silly games, make a noodle craft or two, and vote on the tastiest noodle recipe. There will be endless pastabilities for fun! This program is for families of children in grade 5 and under. Registration is NOT required. 

Contests & Creative Corners: 

February 1-28: Celebrate Library Lover’s Month: Write something you love about our library on a cutout heart  and tape it to the wall

February 15-March 1: Contest: Characters We ♥️: Match the children’s book character with the description to win a prize 

March 3- 15: Creative Corner: Spirograph Design: Use colored pens to move wheels around inside of a ring and create cool, colorful designs.

March 17-31: Contest: We’re Going on a Green Hunt: Find the hidden green images in the children’s room and write down the letter under each image. Turn in the challenge sheet at the front desk for a small prize.

With a perpetual calendar featuring songs, activities, book suggestions, and videos, Day By Day Ohio supports early literacy skills and helps young children get ready for school.

Day By Day Ohio is a customization of a project of the South Carolina State Library, developed in partnership with many agencies and organizations, and primarily funded by a Library Services and Technology Act grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).

Elementary-aged children can explore animals, space, science, geography, and more plus play games and puzzles HERE.

PreK-5 Teacher Resources

If you would like a staff member to collect books, audiobooks, or movies for you on a particular theme, subject, or author, you will need to fill out a teacher collection request form two weeks in advance of when you want to pick-up the books.
