UPCOMING ACTIVITIES

Monday, June 2, from 6:30-8:00 PM in the parking lot behind the Tipp City Public Library

Join us for a celebration of the summer fun awaiting you at the library. We will “Color Our World”  with balloon animals, art stations, face painting, hair chalk, a community weaving project, games, and delicious, free Kona Ice for all participants. Local artists, community groups, and Miami County Parks will be on hand with engaging activities to try. Two Dayton Dragons tickets for the June 6 game and two tickets for the June 7 Meet the Team will be awarded to two children in attendance. 

Join our Kindness Blooms @ Your Library intergenerational project to add color to homebound patrons’ lives and show them you care. Individuals or families may sign up to decorate a flower pot, which will later be filled with dirt and zinnia seeds and delivered to a homebound library patron. We have 50 flower pots to be decorated with acrylic paints and personalized for homebound patrons according to a questionnaire they complete. 

This activity is recommended for ages 10 and up if unsupervised or ages 5 and up if supervised by a family member or caregiver. The downstairs Meeting Room will be available for painting during the following times, and pots must be completed by 3 PM on Saturday, June 7:  

Tuesday, June 3, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM

Wednesday, June 4, from 10:00 AM -12:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM

Thursday, June 5, from 10:00 -12:00 PM

Friday, June 6, from 10:00 AM -12:00 PM

Saturday, June 7, from 11AM-12PM in the Meeting Room downstairs

What amazing LEGO creation can you build either by yourself or with a group of friends? We will display all of the themed creations in the children’s area for three weeks so that you can have bragging rights. Students must be in grades K-5 to participate. Registration is NOT required.

Baby Cuddle Time (6-17 months)

Mondays, June 9 and 23, from 10:30-11:00 AM in the Children’s Area 

For babies and an adult (parent, grandparent, or caregiver). Cuddle close with your baby and enjoy songs, rhymes, and stories together. Learn easy activities you can do with your baby at home to develop early literacy skills. Registration is not required. 

 

Toddler Tales (18-41 months) 

Wednesdays, June 11 and 25, from 10:30-11:15 AM  in the downstairs Meeting Room 

For toddlers and an adult  (parent, grandparent, or caregiver). Now that your child is moving and active, join us for stories, singing, dancing, and easy crafts that will help your toddler develop a love of books and reading. Registration is not required. 

 

 Preschool Story Hour (3 ½ years- 5 years) 

Thursdays, June 12 and 26, from 10:30-11:15 AM in the downstairs Meeting Room 

Get your preschoolers ready to read by immersing them in wonderful stories that will engage them and get them excited about reading. This storytime includes chances for them to sing, play, talk, and make simple crafts. An adult is encouraged to attend with the child. Registration is not required. 

Tuesday, June 10, from 1:00-2:00 PM in the downstairs Meeting Room

Using balloons and aluminum foil, an educator from the Armstrong Air & Space Museum will help us explore black holes, how they form, and the science behind their incredible gravitational pull. Registration is not required. For students entering grades 2-6

Can your family work together as a team to put together a colorful 400-piece puzzle in 60 minutes or less?  Bring your team of up to five family members and see which team completes their puzzle in the shortest amount of time. Participants get to take their puzzles home. Those teams finishing first, second, and third will win an additional prize from Topsy Turvy Toys. 
 
Registration is required, Maximum of ten teams; five family members per team. Registration is full. Call the library at 937-667-3826 to be waitlisted.

Thursday, June 12, from 6:30-7:30 PM

Join us at the Tipp City Park Pavilion for this fun family activity. Using rubber bands and colorful dyes in squirt bottles, transform a plain T-shirt into a groovy fashion statement! Bring your own clothing item to tie-dye. Dyes are permanent, so dress accordingly. Registration is not required.

Monday, June 16, from 3:00-4:00 PM in the downstairs Meeting Room

Create a colorful work of art using crayons, salt, watercolor paint, acrylic paint, chenille stems, and other art supplies.

A World of Color: 

Tuesday, June 17, from 11:30 AM-12:15 PM in the downstairs Meeting Room

Dive deep into the science of color with lots of hands-on activities. Come learn why people are different colors, study iridescence with magnifiers and peacock feathers, capture an iridescent rainbow, and make a bracelet to take home, constructed with special color-changing beads.

Registration is required and opens on June 2. For students entering grades K-5 in the fall. Max. of 25.

Wednesday, June 18, from 10:00-10:45 AM at Tipp City Park 

Join Ms. Wendy and Ms. Julie for stories, songs, movement, and more at Tipp City Park on N. Third Street. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs so you will be comfortable. For children ages 2-5 with an adult.

Saturday, June 21, 2025, in the downstairs Meeting Room 

This free program, taught by Denise A. Campbell, Kids Yoga and Mindfulness Teacher,

will teach children yoga basics using animal poses. Two classes are offered based on age.

Please bring a large towel or yoga mat for your child to use. Registration is required, with a limit of 10 children per class. Registration opens on June 2.

Beginning Crochet–part 1 and 2

Part 1: Tuesday, June 24, from 6:30-7:30 PM in the downstairs Meeting Room

Learn to make some basic stitches and a chain. 

Part 2: Thursday, June 26, from 6:30-7:30 PM in the downstairs Meeting Room

Learn how to make a washcloth. The crochet hook and washcloth will be yours to keep. 

For students entering grade 4 in the fall, up through adults

Registration is required. Max: 20 participants. Registration begins June 2. 

Contests & Creative Corners: 

May 12-31: Animal Face-Off: May 12-31: Eight animals will be pitted against each other in this bracket challenge. Week 1: Cast your vote for the fiercest 4 animals. Week 2: Cast your vote for the fiercest 2 animals. Week 3: Cast your vote to determine the fiercest animal. 

May 19-31: Creative Corner: Loose Parts: See what animal, creature, or person you can create with your imagination and loose parts. 

June 2-30: Contest: Spot the Difference: Look closely at the middle shelf of the display case in the back lobby to determine the differences between the right and left sides. Win a bubbly prize for participating. 

June 9-14: Creative Corner: Make a Father’s Day Card: Tell a special man in your life how much you love him on Father’s Day with a homemade card. 

June 16-21: Contest: Today the Crayons Quit: Some of the crayons have run away from our brand new box. Search the children’s side of the library to find the crayons and count them. Record the number of crayons on your challenge sheet to receive a small prize.  

June 23-28: Creative Corner: Crazy Quilt: Cut patterns from magazines to cover a 6-inch square. We will cover the bulletin board with the quilt squares to make it look beautiful

June 30-July 5: Contest: Guess How Many: Estimate how many brightly colored spheres are in the jar. The child whose guess is closest to the correct number will win a prize bag filled with fun and sweet prizes. 



BEANSTACK/SUMMER READING

People may register for the Tipp City Public Library’s Summer Reading Program using Beanstack on Tuesday, May 27, at 10 AM. 

Participants may accumulate points in Beanstack from June 1 to July 31, 2025. All reading and activities must be recorded in Beanstack by midnight on July 31. 

All prizes must be picked up by Saturday, August 9, 2025.

With a perpetual calendar featuring songs, activities, book suggestions, and videos, Day By Day Ohio supports early literacy skills and helps young children get ready for school.

Day By Day Ohio is a customization of a project of the South Carolina State Library, developed in partnership with many agencies and organizations, and primarily funded by a Library Services and Technology Act grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).

Elementary-aged children can explore animals, space, science, geography, and more plus play games and puzzles HERE.

PreK-5 Teacher Resources

If you would like a staff member to collect books, audiobooks, or movies for you on a particular theme, subject, or author, you will need to fill out a teacher collection request form two weeks in advance of when you want to pick-up the books.
